Remember: a quote from Herber Marcuse - Repressive Tolerance, one of the most influential essays ever written

"Liberating tolerance, then, would mean intolerance against movements from the Right, and toleration of movements from the Left."

It's not hypocrisy when they do this. They really do believe that their own thoughts should be tolerated up to and including violence, and that it is no problem to censor others. Their rules are for us to follow, not them. And they've got a half century of heavyweight intellectuals backing them up.
