More specifically, the reason why there's so many trans women who are autistic: Being trans is a cult, and trans people are the first cult to realize just how perfect autistic people are for cults:

  • They're abnormal enough there is something clearly wrong with them, and moreover, autistic people are also just intelligent enough to KNOW something is wrong with them.

  • They're trusting enough that if you tell them that you have a way to fix what is wrong with them, then they'll listen and try it in order to fix themselves.

  • More than anything else in the world, they want a sense of community. They'd sell their soul to have friends, relationships, people who care about them- and if you can promise them friends, community, a place where they belong, they'll do anything you say.

  • They're incredibly trusting. They cannot possibly fathom that you have an ulterior motive when you're telling them to do something; to them, liars are evil because lying is evil, and you're not evil, so you're clearly not lying to them when you tell them they will have these things. They'll wait forever if need be to get the things you promised them, and no matter how long it takes, they truly believe you're going to give them everything you promised them any day now.

  • They're obsessed with the things they love. That means when you've lured them in, they'll make that cult their entire personality and raison d'etre in life, they will be the most fervent believers in the cult, the first people to drink the Kool-Aid...and just as importantly, the people most adamant everyone else is a cult member, they just don't know it yet, and be willing to do whatever it takes to force people to join the cult. If they have to kill you to make you join, they happily would- and when you're dead they'll tell everyone you died a member of the cult and your dying wish was for everyone else to join too.

To condense that, imagine you've always had problems fitting into the ordinary social world. You find it baffling and frustrating. Suddenly, someone comes along and tells you that your whole problem is that you're trying to pretend you're the wrong gender and that transition will fix it all for you. When you transition, you instantly get a community that love-bombs you in a way you've never experienced before.

It's the perfect trap for people with autism.
