Exactly. And bullies have to be smarter with their cruel pranks. That's why this one works so well; you can be cruel to the social misfit, but there's enough plausible deniability there that you can claim "no, no, it was really because of how much we like you" so the misfit will never shoot up the school in revenge!

Snarts are a narcissistic and arrogant lot. Dark triad personalities are known to be comorbidities with transgenderism in many cases, and so...no. No they wouldn't be embarrassed. They'd take the award and truly believe they earned it even if people are openly laughing at them on stage.
