To insult a trans woman without being discriminatory, female-specific slurs should be used instead, the tribunal suggested.

So in other words... it's perfectly fine to insult, disparage, offend someone, as long as you take their feelings into consideration.

World keeps getting clownier by the minute.

I wonder what the tribunal would've said if "she" had been called a "cunt".

Well that is not sex based insult here in the UK...Although there probably a fair amount of women that it really annoys a lot.

Yeah. If you used that slur on a man here in north america, it would be a bit weird.

female-specific slurs

But I thought they had girldicks, which, according to their own definitions, are 100% female.

Hilariously, all the complaints were dismissed and the “wanker” incident was judged to have never even occurred.

Sounds like this Troon was chancing his arm and trying to get paid for doing nothing, and he’s a massive wanker because he put other people’s jobs on the line to do it.

Oi, you gonna discriminate? Call her a cunt, as is properly respectful. Troon Women Are Cunts, after all.

So in an act of true wankery he made up the entire story?

However, the panel found that she wasn’t discriminated against for being a trans woman after concluding the “w----r” comment hadn’t been made and dismissing her complaint about the near miss.

The absolute wanker made the entire thing up. Frankly, as a bare minimum I think he should be made to pay all the costs incurred by the bus company and possibly be charged with something like perjury or fraud or deception. Absolute tosser.

But they're literally are wanking.

Wanker is gender neutral. I've even used it about myself if I've done something or have to do something that makes me feel like a wanker.

Are you British?

[–]Wanderingthehalls 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Irish

Ahh ok. Is there a difference in the way ‘wanker’ is used in Ireland?

To my South London-raised ear it sounds really weird on the few occasions I’ve heard it used about/to women, all by either non-native Brits or by foreigners. The misuse of ‘wanker’ and ‘bollocks’ are a couple of the things that really grate in US tv and films when they either have a stereotypical Brit or have a trip to London. From memory, Don Cheadle in Ocean’s Eleven is one of the worst I think, although I’ve not seen it for about 20 years.

There's possibly a slight difference but apart from the fact that we apparently swear a bit more, and have a few uniquely Irish phrases, our use of British swear words will be pretty similar. Maybe it's a case that men only use wanker for other men but women use it for both? There is a thread on this case on mumsnet and pretty much all the posters are saying they use wanker for men and women.

Ahh, that’s an interesting point I hadn’t considered.

Hard to be a wanker when you've cut it off though.

Isn’t it something like only 1% of troons have done the dickectomy and only about 20% bother with hormones?

[–]LtGreenCo 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

dickectomy

A friend of mine calls it a lopitoffomy

If we are talking about people gender dysphoria like, 30 or 40 years ago, I think so.

I don't even know how you'd get accurate statistics now. Self identification and all that. People out online but closeted irl.

I'm only going to refer to misgendering as miswankering from now on.

He's a bitch-ass wanker.

So is the 'Karen' slur illegal now?

The Mail has a few more details, including a photo.

Employment judge Kathryn Patricia Ramsden said: 'Despite the [company's] position, the Tribunal does not consider the insult 'w***er' to be a gender-neutral term.

'The panel members' own experiences of use of that term is that it is applied to men, and that there are equivalent but different swear words that are specifically used in common parlance to insult women.'

The tribunal - heard in Croydon, south London - heard that Miss Fischer began working for London United Busways at their Hounslow bus yard in 2020 until her contract was terminated on January 15 2021.

She said she was called a 'w***er' by another driver on January 13, 2021, and that the company was 'male-dominated',

Miss Fischer told the panel that when she was telling her supervisor about an incident, a 'tall man' who was employed by the company called her a 'w***er' with a 'serious' facial expression.

She said he 'pushed' her arm with her shoulder and 'exhibited hostility' which made her 'very upset'.

Miss Fischer said this was because he 'didn't like the look' of her.

Representing herself, she told the tribunal: 'I saw he didn't accept my gender because in the workplace we have different cultures, different religions, and he is standing there with two other drivers in the middle, and looking at me in a very serious way, because he didn't like what he could see in front of him.

Such ridiculously petty claims. If you’re going to invent things to complain about, at least make them less trivial than the sort of shit I deal with after break/recess or lunchtime everyday in schools.
