I wonder if the surgery actually did get "botched", or is the reality of 'sex reassignment surgery' actually just a lie tied to an unfixable open wound?

probably a "feature, not a bug" type of thing - by not telling people the reality of SRS/neovaginas, everyone who gets one can think they were the unlucky one who got "botched".

iirc the discussions were pretty frank before the 2010s--"it'll be physical pain, but weighed against psychic pain": that was when they still called it "sex change"

now it's nothing but Affirmation and Support Communities: and Tumblr and the Queer Club say the only thing worse than a 'phobe is a gatekeeper, someone who second-guesses your Lived Experience (ironically also what they called living as the opposite sex)--now "opposite sex" is "binary," "sex change" is "medicalization," examining whether you actually have dysphoria "conversion therapy" (which is what they used to call "changing someone considered effeminate through hormones and surgeries")

that's exactly Purdue Pharmaceutical's MO--they set up a "grassroots" movement where everyone said the exact same thing--"we have a right to pain management and besides people will just go to illegal sources and you wouldn't sue Ford after a car accident AND STOP CALLING US JUNKIES AND HAND OVER ALL THE OXY"

Might well have gotten botched the failure rates are astronomically high. Like 30% or higher.

There's a reason why people used to fly to places like Thailand with less medical red tape to get them.

Sunk cost fallacy at this point. When you've fucked up massively and you are all in even when the writing is on the wall that it's a scam you gotta hold onto that little bit of faith that it's not because you just can't admit it to yourself.

Same reason people stick to pyramid schemes despite it draining them of money. I knew someone who was stuck upside own in a mortgage even that did this.

Couldn't afford the mortgage but had savings that would last for awhile. Bank was not returning calls about restructuring.

I said, just stop paying your mortgage and force the issue. Bank will either restructure or evict you. But if you get evicted now you'll have those savings.

They of course didn't do that because "you can't just not pay your mortgage" and the bank was perfectly happy to drain those savings down to nothing and then evict them. Leaving them with nothing.

So how is that relevant? Well you want something you can't have, a sex change, it's just physically impossible. Doesn't matter how much or why you want it. It doesn't work that way. But there's all sorts of people around who are more than willing to take your money and string you along making you think it works until such a time as they've sucked all they can from you and just leave you to kill yourself and move onto the next victim.

Better to deal with the root cause of the depression first and avoid the complications. So you want to be a girl? Well you can't. Do just make peace with that fact of life and go live your life. You'll be happier not worrying about it.

I’d love to say “not my problem”, but I bet that at some point, when things reach critical mass and it becomes acceptable to admit that medical transition was harmful for most of them, they’ll turn around and blame society. They’ll demand their own form of reparations. They’ll say it’s our fault for not stopping them.

They won’t blame the greedy doctors and therapists who signed off on transition They won’t blame the dishonest politicians and media figures They won’t blame the sadists in their own “community” who cheered them on because they wanted to create more freaks like themselves.

They’ll blame everyone else.

I mean if they are rad femmes they'll probably still get canceled for being insufferable.

Like the thing is, oftentimes they are right, but radfemmes are angry at the world and angry at society for their position in it, and that isn't a great social magnet.

So what will happen is a detrans person goes on a sob story about how they are the victim, just like they went on the sob story about how not giving them SRS right now with no vetting made them a victim of transphobia, and the people that are like "tough shit dumbass we told you so" will be cancelled for being mean and unfeeling towards the poor victim, who will leave out the part about how they basically emotionally abused and used psychological terrorism (gimme gimme gimme or I kill myself) anyone who tried to talk them out of it in even the softest ways imaginable.

So nothing will change. The victims will actually become victims with permanent consequences because they wanted to be victims so bad. Karma is a bitch. But the victims will still whine about being victims, the virtue signalers will change their virtue signals to the new standard, the sun will rise, people will be born, people will die, the sky is still blue, water is still wet, dogs say woof, cats say meow.

That's a fair point. You can already kind of see that mindset in detrans groups. Like, "I fought so hard to get this, to the point of lobbying and changing laws, and now it's your fault for not endangering your own reputation and career to stop me anyway!" Childish behavior on a major scale.

This shit is truly amazing. I will never again doubt the power of denial to drive people to make absolutely insane decisions.

I mean...the amount of shit you have to do. The surgeries, the drugs, the ostracization, the curating of a friend group that only ever lies to you about how good you look, the constant self-editing of your own thoughts to spin them as positively as possible so you never once have to consider you might be wrong.

If they had this level of dedication about anything else in their lives they might not be so depressed.
