I've said before that a lot, maybe all, of modern Identity Politics is just a rebranded, 21st century comeback of the White Man's Burden ideology from the previous centuries. The core tenets--minorities are incapable of functioning on their own and minorities need the efforts of their white betters to help them advance in society--are damned near identical.

Even the White Man's Burden tenets don't help because at least that was a full level of it. This is more an individualized version: It's all of that, but also throwing the entire race under the bus in order to prop up that specific person as special and the only better worthy of leading them to advance.
