Whenever Russians start discussing trans people it's a matter of time until someone brings up this episode. The GoGoRiki (originally Smeshariki - "funny little balls") series is aimed at preschool kids and follows adventures of stylized round antropomorphic animals. It has been dubbed into English so you can google "GoGoRiki Social Butterfly watch" to take a look at this episode that lasts only 5 minutes. The translation isn't super faithful and omits some details but you can still get the gist.

In this episode Dokko the Moose comes to a conclusion that in his previous life he was a butterfly. He then becomes upset with his current existence as a moose because it is obviously a terrible mistake. He doesn't feel right in his big ugly body. He was always meant to fly like a butterfly and he feels like one. The next day he crafts butterfly wings out of paper, ties them to his back, and starts prancing around in what he believes is typical butterfly fashion. He stops answering to his name (in the original series he is called Losyash - "Moosyash") and insists his name is Butterfly. His friends try to persuade him to drop his weird stunt but he throws a tantrum. He maintains that others cannot possibly know who he actually is. And he is not a moose, he just looks like one. But he is a butterfly inside and he is tired of lying and pretending to be a moose when all he wants is to fly freely. After this his friends lock his house telling Dokko that it is the house of a moose, not a butterfly. After spending an uncomfortable night on a tree branch and licking flowers in an attempt to feed on nectar Dokko realizes his butterfly stunt is not working and drops the act.

This episode is a simplified but surprisingly accurate metaphor of "transitioning", "deadnaming", and "misgendering" (misspecies-ing?) even though it's almost a given it was never conceived as such. The original episode aired on Russian television in 2005, long before people there heard words like "transgender" or "bepenised women" or "pregnant people" or "male lesbians". Come to think of it, the US had a South Park episode "Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina" released in the same year of 2005...
