The predatory cosmetic surgery industry assisted him in destroying his life because they were so eager to take money from someone with obvious mental health issues.

Hmm, sounds like something else. Maybe everyone telling you “yes” or “affirming” you isn’t the right solution to these problems.

Plastic surgery is such a poisonous industry, what happened to medical ethics?

Yea. It seems like this is wrong.

Science has been ignoring their own ethics rules (and simultaneously flaunting them and claiming the moral high ground) for decades, it's simply more egregious than it has previously in history.

Did he seriously get surgery on his eyes to make himself look Asian? That's like the opposite of what Koreans get surgery for. This is a tragic story for sure but I also find the irony kinda hilarious.

He was very insecure about his looks,' Blake said. 'H had a very square jawline and chin and he didn't like the shape of it because he thought it was too wide an wanted a V-shape, the shape many Asians have

Though Colucci's striking features included dark blonde hair, blue eyes and a frame that stood 6 feet tall and 182-pounds, Blake said he was 'very unhappy about his appearance.'

Bruh... It sounds like he had a Chad body and face but still unhappy.

He was very insecure about his face,' Blake said. 'It was very hard from him to get a job in South Korea and he felt very discriminated against his Western looks.'

Yeah because asian countries are racist as fuck which makes it all the more hilarious when people complain about America being "racist" against Asians because their trope is being good at math.

Not only that, but South Korea in particular is incredibly focused on people looking singular, to the point that even for Korean nationals, plastic surgery is expected if you have any unique feature about yourself.

The thing is though that he is a white guy in Korea and could probably get tons of acting work as a "foreigner" in any movie or commercial, etc...

His plastic surgery probably didn't even accomplish what he wanted. It ends up creating an uncanny valley situation where he just looks weird and actually ends up looking gross to the target audience.

You'd think that, but even with foreigners, even independent of that, Korea still wants perfection. I know- when I worked in Korea, I replaced the teacher at my school solely because I was white, she was Asian, and the parents wanted to see white faces at the school- and when I was replaced, it was solely because I had psoriasis and wasn't pretty enough to be that white face.

So "they all look the same" is a compliment in Korea?

Very much so, yes. It's not even just racism [though there's all the racism there], it's also "if you aren't beautiful enough to look like you stepped out of a K-Pop video, you can expect discrimination and bigotry."

Well at least he had to leave the country to find a butcher. I guess this is a win for public healthcare?

You don't have to get plastic surgery. Just be a good actor. Did nobody butt in to explain why this was a bad idea?

I'm guessing they encouraged him for his stunning bravery
