I think a big part of this can be explained by the gradual normalization of psychoactive medications being given to children. Kids these days are taught that every dysfunctional thought or feeling can and should be treated with drugs. Every Gen Z I know has multiple prescriptions. There's almost no barrier to access do why should they think taking this stuff is a big deal?
