New Zealand is a weird place. It’s like Canada’s retarded inbred cousin when it comes to the social justice stuff - hey guys, you really shouldn’t do land acknowledgments for cannibals and genocidaires.

Yeah New Zealand sounds like a hellhole given what happened in the pandemic over there, but I don't think they are alone in this. We have a Supreme Court member who says its very important that we nominated a woman like her, but she can't tell us what a woman is

I should say that every New Zealander and Canadian I know and I know quite a few, is lovely and I get on well with them, it’s just their governments that are cuckoo.

Yeah, that way of casually glossing over of the Maori and their treatment of their neighbors is hilarious. Nobody lining up to see them (the Moriori) get reparations, and I'm doubting that any Maori will ever apologize for that either.

Didn’t the last Moriori die in the 1920s? The Māori actually did a complete genocide of the Moriori, must be one of the very few to manage that in modern times.

According to the wiki article, 1933 for the last "pure" Moriori, everyone else is of mixed Moriori and something else descent.

And I was wrong about something in my previous comment, there actually is some serious effort being made toward reparations, according to that same article. No idea what the Maori are part of in that, but it apparently is happening.

Ahh that’s interesting. I haven’t read the Wikipedia page for years, just remember it everytime the Māoris are mentioned.
