Yeah the poll is poorly worded. There's some number of people who probably answered not guilty with this in mind.

But there's likely some number of people who would have said not guilty even if the worker intended for the punch to kill the customer and punched the guy out for no reason, solely because he wanted to punch out and delete a white person.

Ok but it's on the question and the person who asked the question to be more clear otherwise each person interprets the question differently and also each person reading the results can interpret it differently. There are 2 layers of ambiguity.
