Honestly, with everything done by people using the emotional terrorism, it's far more likely it's "projecting harder than IMAX". They believe their enemies do this stuff because they know in their hearts they plan to do all of this when they get power.

Of course, but even this one is different due to how much society has given them what they want, and turned it to "I want to genocide them first, so if I pretend they'll genocide me I can still sleep at night when I do it."
