I suppose there's a grain of truth. We all know these virtue signalling companies are often just pandering to what they think will sell or get the company positive coverage, etc. It's very likely true that they don't really have a very deep understanding of whatever woke agenda they're trying to suck up to.

I think there's some value to that argument. But it's basically not really a right wing or left wing take so much as it's a corporate profit motive chasing after trends that are themselves not well defined or thought out which is why they change constantly online.

With this show. I can't say much about it other than, I have no desire to watch it. I think they picked race swapped Velma just so they could pretend people were outraged about it. Now it's, utterly bizzare to race swap characters for no reason, but it's hardly a problem in and of itself so much as the indication that the writers are literally grasping at straws to find some way to make the show interesting.

It's Scooby Doo and has been done to death, poorly as well, a billion times. Who the fuck is the audience for this?

Like they did underwater Scooby Doo with a shark instead of a dog. They did five billion re-imaginings of the original with such boring bottom.of the barrel ideas already like, what if everyone were children. What if the monsters where actually totally real ghosts, and so on.

Now it's basically, what if we just do one of those corporate box checklist where we take the checklist we had before and do the opposite just cause we can.

If you want to redo Scooby Doo don't. The "teenagers solve mysteries" genre is done to death. So just make new characters, and if your plots and writing are good, people will watch it. But that's the thing, nobody can write for shit in Hollywood now, so they have no choice but to not only rehash old ideas, but rehash them in such boring and trite ways.

Pass on the torch to a new generation if you want it to be successful and you still want that "connection" to the old show, but for god's sake make new characters.

Worse, both the left and right think this show is terrible, and terrible pandering to the other side.

The real point should be...Velma is...it's just terrible, and they're doing the Ghostbusters2016 marketing campaign of "this show sucks. We admit it. It sucks. Doesn't matter. If you don't watch this show and love it you're an -ist or -phobe. You're not one, are you? ARE YOU???" even though time has proven: 1) People are absolutely willing to support diverse movies and shows IF THE SHOW IS GOOD , and 2) People have tuned out that marketing plan to "fine, great, we're bigots, but your show still sucks and we won't watch it."

You forget that these companies adhere to their own business social credit score and they must adhere to leftist faggotry at the expense of their leverage to get funding. You can thank people like Larry Fink of Blackrock and Vanguard who dictate these stipulations for relevance in their gatekept space.

basically box-ticking: that's why it's a bit amusing to see the Tumblrinas/Twits suddenly realize that a show that SHOULD have everything they want--a dark-skinned character teasing lesbianism, a Black autist, the wypipo all small-dicked Nazis or Beckys--is suddenly "tokenist": it's stitched together from all of their contradictory demands, but they don't like it when they finally see it in good lighting

it's like how under the right circumstances Dead End Trailer Park would've been condemned as patronizing and showing trans people as ungrateful and impossible to satisfy; at least Q Force had enough tongue in cheek to be a little Drawn Together
