Cross dressing in front of children should be outlawed.

Pantomime Dames are okay. Christopher Biggins has made an extremely successful career out of it. Long tradition of crossdressing in the theatre.

It’s the use of burlesque performers that’s the problem. And anyone claiming that Drag and Pantomime Dames are the same is being disingenuous, especially as I don’t believe that the US has the panto tradition - I think it’s a UK thing…does it happen in Ireland?

I don't think we have a pantomime tradition in Ireland. I've always associated cross dressing with burlesque connotations. I guess a man dressing as a nun or a babushka wouldn't be inappropriate in front of children but my perception of cross dressing has been warped by drag queens and clowns.

Yeah, there’s a big difference between Widow Twanky in the Cinderella panto and Miss SwallowsALot from the local burlesque.

Edit: I had completely forgotten about the crossdressing in Monty Python’s Flying Circus TV show and A Bit of Fry and Laurie’s voxpops - both entirely fine, I watched MP and F&L as a kid. Similarly, although the story is probably questionable these days, Mrs Doubtfire is another example of crossdressing which isn’t damaging for children (the story is definitely “of its time” though).

Crossdressing has been a comedy staple for a long time. The WKUK, Kids In The Hall. I guess it's a cost saving measure at the very least

Now that you mentioned it, Mrs Doubtfire was fairly innocent. I guess as long as the cross dressing isn't sexual, than it doesn't need to be banned.

I really need someone who supports these events to explain to me why it is SO IMPORTANT for drag queens to perform in front of children. Why has this become such a big deal to the left?

My theory is that Queer theory is the root and because a large portion of the left seems to have hitched their wagon to the proponents of queer theory. They have done this because they are under the mistaken belief that Queer Theory is all about gay rights largely because of a clever campaign to popularise the term “queer” as the umbrella term for da gays.

This misconception, aided and abetted by actual paedos and the brainwashed - think those featured on LibsofTikTok, is that if you are against exposing children to adult performers (notably men dressed as women and not women dressed as women) then you are homophobic. I also think that there’s a certain amount of intransigence, I fully believe that there are some on the left that are simply for this shit because the right is against it.

As for the educational justification, I’m a teacher specialising in 5-11yos, and I have no idea why anyone would think there’s any educational benefit from this (which is why I’m very suspicious of it all).

Drag embodies the queer identity in its aesthetics. Simply being gay and dressing normally doesn’t do it, so Drag is the shining star of queerness that must be shone in everyone’s face.

For the same reason that churches have Sunday School for kids. Children are impressionable and easy to indoctrinate. Start early and you have a lot more likelihood that the kids will take after the culture in which they were raised.

A Manhattan man is facing charges in relation to a violent clash at the New York Public Library, which saw him clash with protesters boycotting a drag reading event for kids, and an undercover cop that had been deployed there to keep the peace.

The incident transpired Saturday at the main branch of the Big Apple's storied library system, where kids aged 3 to 9 had been gathered to attend a 'Drag Story Hour' event presided over by library officials and local drag queens.

Drag queens get all the attention and what do us poor nudists get?

Where's vegan nudist storytime hour?

Or the Sexually-Frustrated-Just-Doing-This-Shit-To-Get-Close-To-That-Hot-Librarian Story Hour?
