This is government overreach. It takes away parental rights, and 18 is quite old to still be 100% controlling someone's life choices. Especially when you're the government and not a parent. This is different from stopping public schools from grooming kids to recruit them into identity politics movements, this is an attack on individual rights. It is clearly motivated by a personal grudge against raging progressives and not out of ideological principle or regard for individuals. I understand how exhausting it is to deal with them, but it doesn't mean you get to go on a tyrannical rampage just to piss them off and get back at them, crushing masses who aren't even involved. You see, revenge not only hurts your enemy and accomplishes nothing, but can harm completely innocent people too. Is wrath really so important that it even comes before justice for the innocent? This is like reddit mods making a rule banning something because they don't like it, claiming it "degrades the subreddit" or that it's "fascist".

I could understand if this were about actual children, but they clearly want to get as close as possible to banning it for all ages just so they can own the libs. Owning the libs is funny when Ben Shapiro does it in a podcast. It's not funny anymore when actual politicans with real power turn jokes like that into reality, against all sense of ethics. This is one of the ways the left became so radical. They joked about being communists, to the point that they really did become communist to piss everyone else off. They joked about pedophilia until they forgot it was a joke and started actually promoting it. There's a reason we have to keep jokes in their place just like people who play violent video games need to understand that it's not the way to behave in real life.

3 years ago Republicans were struggling to defend the first amendment against a growing socialist tyranny. Now they want to become that tyranny. What happened? Is it worth throwing our whole country away, all our freedom including yours, which our forefathers fought for, and all our values, just to get some petty revenge? The rage truly is blinding. "Pushing back" isn't going to accomplish anything other than looking like a fool in front of your opponents, and oh boy are they eager to use it to their advantage.

This is why I am skeptical of any government at all, because humans are tribal creatures who inevitably flock to tyranny, until they are its victims.

You can't have your request that your arm be amputated because you identify as an amputee granted no matter what age you are. Because doctors are not supposed to do harm and removing an arm is clearly harm. Well guess what, outside of having it erroneously entangled with LGB rights, slicing off an enormous layer of a woman's arm/thigh skin and tissue and rolling it up to create the basis of her phalloplasty, which is stitched on to either her lower abdomen or over her labia/clitoris is harm. Inverting a man's penis and likely adding colon tissue to it, creating an open wound that must be painfully dilated for the rest of their lives is harm. Giving artificial testosterone to a woman with normal female testosterone levels is harm as it causes life limiting physical side-effects and can make emotional regulation significantly more difficult. Giving artificial estrogen to men with normal male levels of estrogen is harm as it causes life limiting physical side effects and make emotional regulation significantly more difficult.

There are plenty of things that doctors could do that they are not allowed to for the sake of their patients well being. There is no age limit on doctors being forbidden to carry out procedures or give medications that are clearly harmful to their patients. This should be no different. It's clearly fucking harmful to people. And there should be a blanket ban on it.

In very extreme cases an amputation might be the only workable solution. But we as a society will not allow that because we don't care about that person, we only care about that person's potential contributions to society. Same reason we're against mercy killings, and for survival at all costs and quantity over quality of life in every case, because letting someone be horribly tortured is apparently better than losing even the slightest chance that they could survive and contribute a bit more labor and babies to the tribe. Yet we're perfectly willing to put animals out of their misery, because it's no net loss to our own species! It's sick.

I wish people would actually use their brain instead of acting entirely on instinct.

You.... Think that people are not disturbed by how conveniently and easily animals are put down? There are people who think it's wrong, and that's why no-kill shelters and fosters exist. That's why animal sanctuaries exist.

Your proposal for euthanasia for humans is one step away from culling anyone deemed 'imperfect' or 'sickly'. It would be no different than the many practices of killing 'cursed' people in primitive societies. Slippery slope? Look at current year. It's all the slippery slope arguments coming true and more.

By mercy killings I mean like if someone is being eaten alive or stuck in a fire and can't be rescued, it shouldn't be against the law to kill them quickly so they at least don't suffer. Especially if they ask to be, which does happen. It's not for killing undesirables.

I had let the conversation go until this was posted today, with Canada showing what happens when even the slightest bit of euthanasia was allowes. And I'll let the video showcase it.

Slippery slope is like the expected outcome nowadays
