and ironically the gender symbols are all very alchemical, as contrasted to the isotopic average numbers of each element (which actually do vary around the globe! science!)

The gender symbols are only that way because Linnaeus decided to use the astrological/astronomical/alchemical symbol for Venus/copper for female and Mars/Iron for male in his push to develop a systematic biological classification. All the other gender symbols are just bastardisation of those two (I’m still waiting for someone to try to use The Artist formerly known as Prince’s symbol for a neogender, would be an amazing troll).

if someone's got Zeus's symbol as gender/sexuality--well, it's too late and you're gonna have a demigod, uterus or not!
