Fairly sure that that was the fault of the ADL and SPLC, those grifters need to stay relevant so they’re responsible for taking the OK sign and making it a White Power sign after being completely taken in by the 4chan troll.

Yes, but the same "they knew it was a troll job, knew they were being baited, knew it was fake, said "but what if it's NOT?" was in play.

I have no doubt they listed it as hate speech/symbols despite knowing it was a troll, I believe they now have milk listed as a hate symbol for the same reason. Those two organisations exist solely to grift and they can only grift if they keep up the impression that there’s been no change in the treatment of minorities since the 1950s. SPLC is especially shitty, they listed Maajid Nawaz as an islamophobic hate figure until he threatened to sue them for libel, at which point they ran for the hills.
