I think the problem with the whole thing about user information and privacy is that it is straight up barter system with a few extra steps. They provide us a platform for us to use and in return they collect our information. Here, we do not know how to compare or measure the value of our private information. Next is that the user info is used for ads; it is safe to assume the companies have some experts in marketing and psychology who know how an average human thinks- therefore, we are using their services and in return, we are allowing them to legally try to manipulate us to buy products/spend money. I think there would be more clarity if we could put a number/price on our private information. That is very unethical unless the person volunteers to give out their info for money. I can't see a company PAYING the user to show them an ad.
