This sub is devoted to the canary, so you can see the previous canary posts at https://saidit.net/s/SaiditCanary/ or at the "Canary" link in the footer

After watching this YouTube video @6m+ about Twitter joking that it was the Free Speech Wing of the Free Speech Party, "it was never a mission of the company or in the descriptor of the company."

Perhaps this needs to be added somehow. Though I don't know how you'd deal with trolls and asshats. Or me for that matter. Fuck you all!

An idea. Perhaps include a "proof of date" in these. Look at the VeraCrypt warrant canary as an example. https://www.idrix.fr/VeraCrypt/canary.txt

We thought about doing this, but the date is already listed on the canary posts themselves, where it says something like "Posted 26 days ago", and only admin usernames can create the canary. So it'd be almost impossible for someone to fake it on saidit, unlike the pure text file you've linked to which does have a good reason to have those. That's just my 2 cents on it, but I do appreciate the suggestion

The proof of date is supposed to act as a way to prove that multiple canaries where not made or prepared in advance.

Edit: from what I linked before

The news feed quoted below (Proof of Date) serves to demonstrate that this canary could not have been created prior to the date stated. It shows that a series of canaries were not created in advance.

I see, but doesn't the fact it says "Posted 3 hours ago" when I post it convey the same information?

And wouldn't it also be possible to automatically post a canary that automatically pulls the top headlines from some news site?

I'm still thinking about it, but I just don't see it adding that much security, tbh.
