So why exactly would we be automatically subscribed to every freaking sub on signup? That's just a mess. I just spent 10 minutes unclicking garbage like "test", "dddddddwst" and 4 bloody "conspiracywhatsit" subs.

Because it's an opt-out system, you just unsubscribe from the ones you don't like while you view saidit.net/s/subscribed. It doesn't matter if you're subbed to subs that never post because they won't show up. That was the design intent, sorry it wasn't super clear to you, we'll work to improve it.

You can unsubscribe from all of them at once in your user preferences if you like.

We made /all the front page so stuff doesn't get lost in the cracks, because it's a small community still. We may soon switch back to the subscribed page being the front page, or make it a user option to choose which of the two you prefer as your front page.

Might want to add the Unsubscribe to All at the top of one's sub list and just add an extra "Are you sure?" step in case of misclicks. I found it myself in preferences, but that was by accident

That's a great idea, it makes a lot of sense to place it there. /u/d3rr and myself can figure out how to do this one

You should just be able to do something like

if (confirm("Unsub from all?")) { //code }

EDIT: Oh, you already did it.

That would be fantastic, please. I just signed up and I really am far too lazy to manually unsub from every single subbsaidit.

[–]magnora7[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

There's already an option to unsub from them all at once in your user preferences. We're just talking about adding that same button to the sub listing page :)

Ah, fantastic. Thank you :)

No problem

I figured there would be a mass unsubscribe, I did not find it but now I see it when I know it's there, it's pretty buried. I just went to Edit Subs at the top, got the list, saw no Unsub All and started manually going through them.

I understand the rationale, but I would certainly start out with a little more curation in the list, this is already unwieldy and there's only 80-odd.

SaidIt does not have the torrent of posts that Reddit has. So many subs are not posted to with any intense frequency.

How does one create a new community?

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

There's a 2 week wait then the button appears

[–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

After your account is 2 weeks old, the "create a sub" button will appear next to the "post a link" buttons. Let me know if you have any more questions!

[–]prove_your_point 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

i like it that way

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Because SaidIt is not Reddit.

Also, to build community. It may change in the future. Likely in the preferences.
