The whole point of not having a downvote button is so people don't just label stuff as "bad", "wrong", "bad" without explaining why.

Reddit-like downvotes allow people to decide that things are toxic, reduce their visibility, and turn subreddits into echo-chambers without even meaning to. We are in agreement.

(note: edited rather drastically; the first sentence is from the original, and I removed references to me being irrationally cross for no apparent reason, but the rest is new)

Oh right on. And please be cross. I fuckin hated that overly tight PC corner the Reddit mods had people backed into. They used it as a cheap way to censor what didn't fit their world/emotional views.

How does "not having a downvote button" equal "an overly tight PC corner"? The removal of the downvote button is designed in part to reduce censorship, which you could otherwise easily do by making a bunch of alts and downvoting stuff to oblivion.

We are in violent agreement about this side-issue. Now can we get back to discussing the downvote?
