I respect you man. But I think you are wrong in this one. I was on a Reddit like other website. And it became a nightmare for the person who ran it, and they shut it down.

I feel like it’s okay for you to post your thoughts, and comments.

But I also think it’s okay if the website creator is okay with what he has done, and wants to let it rest.

I use r/all. I understand you want subscribed to be fixed. But I dunno man. I don’t want to push to hard when I enjoy this website so much allready.

I don't, he's a man-child, but it's not entirely his fault. I dunno if you know Jason's origin story, but he was abandoned as an infant to a flock of Canadian Geese. He lived feral for 15 years of his life, frolicking with the geese, honking, shitting where he pleased, eating scraps of bread people threw at him. One day a doctor and his wife decided to adopt Jason, and raise him as a real boy.

Unfortunately for Jason, this involved a judicious amount of anti-depressants that stunted what little mental growth he had realized while living among the geese. Jason became a porn star, was involved in numerous orgies, caught space syphilis. It was a dark chapter in his life.

Then he discovered the controlled opposition to Cucked Canada. He got a taste of power and it drove him mad. Soon he was asking everyone he knew to give him a free server, a free website, free technical support.....

And now here we are all caught up to the present day.

If you think that critical issues should be suppressed due to magnora7's arbitrary default list, then you are for censorship. I understand your censorship argument. And I agree, the subscribed tab is a censored or curated part of the website. And since you are directed to subscribed, you are directed to a censored website.

I understand, and I agree with your argument.

But I think there are many factors that contribute to this topic:

  1. Has majora done enough?

  2. How does changing it, even further censor the website?

  3. What changes do you want? What exactly are you asking for? How does it contribute or fox the problem.

  4. Why can’t you just click s/all?

WE are the people who make SaidIt what it is. Involve us.

Community self-management aside, if /u/magnora7 is actually a free-thinker and truth-seeker, then he'll improve access to the critical subs by including them in the default list. Otherwise he's an egotistical poser. This is NOT a big ask.

Many people don't even know about /s/All.

I keep doing what M7 should be doing as a leader - communicating. I've reposted "Are you getting ALL of SaidIt?" repeatedly, frequently getting thank yous for it.

I agree. I also know that covering all bases and NOT suppressing important information is critical to SaidIt's success, not to mention having the vital news reach people - especially in the harder times ahead. COVID was just a warmup.

I'm not wrong.
Whether it's SaidIt or Wolfballs or other community sites where one guy thinks he can run it himself - those sites are utterly doomed if they grow - unless they recruit teams. Teams paid by those with deep pockets to serve corporate interests - or - community-based teams with trusted (perhaps elected) folks who follow a goals-oriented charter and roadmap with clear rules and guides. As owner he'll still have ultimate veto power. Wannabe critical thinker /u/magnora7 has done NONE of this, despite my asking nicely - and now I'm demanding because I've only ever been ignored. We have literally nothing to lose.

He's NOT the creator. WE are. He just owns the space. Poorly.

He can take a rest. While this place falls to shit, as it's doing - or - he can share the burden and let others help improve the site, management, curation, and growth.

It doesn't have to involve me. I have other shit to do. But I will have my say and be heard.

I'm not asking for development. I, and others, simply want more topical default subs to reflect the world since COVID, and the fact that it took forever to make new subs under his bullshit rules - and he wouldn't do anything to curate them properly. It's only fair and it's not rocket surgery.

If there are default subs that is a new thing. When I came here the front page was everything but specifically excluded subs. It used to sub new accounts to all of them too.

This is most certainly NOT a new thing. This was a contentious issue several years ago when M7 wanted to implement it, and D3, ever obedient, helped make it happen.

The default used to be that new users were auto-subscribed to all extant subs, no choice. Unfortunately they'd have to manually subscribe to all newly created subs thereafter. It was already dysfunctional for this reason.

Alternatively to /s/Subscribed, there is /s/All where folks catch everything that is not de-listed, subscribed or not. /u/magnora7 doesn't bother doing public service announcements, but in lieu of the lack of leadership, I can't count how many times I've reposted, "Are you getting ALL of SaidIt?", for newbies and vets alike.

Without consulting the community at all /u/magnora7 magnanimously decided for us all what he arbitrarily judged and believes to be good for OUR community and handed down his even shittier selective default sub list bestowed upon new users. This is a perfect way to STUNT THE GROWTH OF SAIDIT! - via complete lack of action, thus fundamentally suppressing new important issues. Again, new subs must be manually added.

Time to add some new default subs to the list:
