Free speech? On here? I've had an account for over a year but only been using it regularly for a few months and I have yet to actually speak freely without getting bombarded with down votes and extremely angry people just because of my opposing views. Maybe I came to the party too late and you used to be able to say anything?

Yes, 2015 was when reddit became unusable.

*Welcome to Voodoosuppe, and others. Give it another shot. The tranny is out, and things are running fairly smoothly again.

Jesus ...it's pretty good - should be animated for a video short

StumbleUpon?? I had forgotten about that vast, desolate wasteland.

Never looked back after 2005 me decided to 'pick a homepage' between stumbleupon, reddit, and some forgotten other site. Reddit looked the most promising, and I ended up spending 10 years there.

Even before the digg invasion, you could see the waves of school kids signing up around summer, winter, and spring break holidays. It was an amazing place, and you'd never know the sense of it then by looking at it now.

That kid who 'should be doing his homework'. Warlizard - that guy from the gaming forum. The internet was new, and there was no place like early reddit. "In Soviet Russia, bomb disarms you..." Bozarking - I think his 'silly and non-sexual' post was the first one with over 5000 upvotes. What a time to be on the internet.

What's "digg"?

https://digg.com

It had mainly teenagers in 2010 when the site crashed, and the kids joined Reddit (where, by a servey we learned that most were in their early 20s, and many somewhat older than that, mainly working in IT). Since then, Reddit has been for a predominantly younger goofball audience and mainly for entertainment.

A link aggregator site that used to be popular, right up until they changed their design and policies. Then everyone fled and started Reddit.
