The future is going to be user-supported. Advertising is no-go for any site not party approved. Even user-supported is tenuous given how the California Cartel is intent on cutting payment services to anybody to the right of Mao.

advertising is what enabled mass media. for all the complaints about it, they've been funding all our access to this stuff in exchange for just an opportunity to tell us how great they are.

I think we need a new model though, I don't like the advertising.
