I started /s/SaidItBots for discussions like these, developing policy, pitching it to the admins, and for possibly openly making our own bots to save time for some feeds that could/should be automated.

I'm in favour of the idea of highly recommending or simply making it mandatory that all bot accounts be clear about their role and have their own dedicated subs. For example: /u/CorbettBot might only post in /s/Bot_Corbett.

Existing bots may get grandfather exceptions to continue on as they are, unless we collectively and/or the admins decide that they should conform without exception.

In the future, sooner or later, more bots will come, advertising or shilling or not, and they will get more and more advanced. IMO, we should at the very least keep this conversation alive.

I'm not against useful bots, but I am against them rolling over my toes.

I'm also a HUGE fan of topical subs and better classification to allow for users to choose their content better. That's largely why I avoid using /s/news /s/conspiracy /s/whatever if I can help it.

I've done the new sub thing a few times, like /s/greekmusic so /s/music doesn't get overwhelmed.

The wider-functioning ban button would be nice. It's near the top of the to-do list, so hopefully soon
