But it doesn't matter anymore. Biological heritage is no longer this magical thing that defines who you are.

it's the only thing that matters

Why?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (14 children)

no one wants to raise another man's kid

Why is it such a big deal whose DNA they have? You can't even know unless you get a test.

you'll never have kids so it's not a concern for you but for most of us we want a real kid, 50% of women cheat which is why religion is almost totally focused on sex and controlling them. It's all that matters. You want your line to continue and definitely not spend years of work and money taking care of some guy who fucked your wife and left's kid.

If you raised that kid it's your kid. Since you can't even tell the difference then how does it matter?

It's all that matters

It's absolutely not. Early Christians in fact had a somewhat negative attitude towards marriage and reproduction in general.

terrible take. a lot of times you can't tell what a kid will look like as a baby so you think it's yours, then notice later it looks like someone, then it's too late to get a dna test, you're on the birth certificate, and you wasted years of your life. Did your dad leave you and that's why you have this wrong view?

"Wasted years of your life"? What is your goal in raising a kid then, if not to help a new person grow and thrive?
