Not entirely accurate https://crosnerlegal.com/is-it-illegal-to-record-someone/

"The above law has noticeable loopholes. If both parties did not have a reasonable expectation to privacy, then all recordings are legal and admissible in court."

Also "When you record public officials or police, it is legal to record them if the recording is made within a public place."

When you say

Not entirely accurate

what you actually mean is u/Brewdabier is talking complete bullshit and is an apologist for bad cops who break the law and assault regular members of the public who are exercising their democratic freedoms.

American cops think their shit doesn't stink and they are the next best thing to god himself when in reality they are just another armed gang of half-educated criminals. The only difference is that unlike most other gangs they have the government running interference for them and protecting them from the consequences of their actions.

"Oh you just illegally assaulted or shot another innocent member of the public? Have a holiday on full pay until the media forgets about the case. If we get sued, the city will pick up the tab and it won't cost you a cent. If we have to fire you, don't worry, you'll get hired again by another town before you can say 'I thought I saw a gun and felt afraid for my life'."
