I've never seen it directed at individuals. There are very rare occasions when a bot posts a comment, though not in response to an individual.

I'd estimate that some portion of the ~50% of online bots are engaged at Reddit, and the poll's 15% seems legitimate.

Worst I've seen is mod-supported pro-Israel fanaticism and shilling on /r/worldnews. (So that one can only get relatively honest Palestine news at /r/Chomsky, /r/Palestine, /r/worldnewsvideos, /r/anime_titties, and sometimes at /r/politics .) Reddit has a mod problem, not a bot problem.
