If this is true, their code is shit, and we can probably expect it to implode even worse when they cut the API off.

It's going to be a fucking disaster when they cut the API. Especially if some of those app devs strike deals with Reddit alternatives in the meantime. They'll convert a large percentage of their users over to alt platforms like this one.
