I remember when I first moved to reddit. Sure, there was that element of shills and shitty mods, but there were some great subs you could have actual conversations on. Rarely in the last few years have I had any meaningful dialogue on reddit. Usually you get the kneejerk people so steeped in their now hive mind that they just yell obscenities or cite that one troublesome post/comment you made ten years ago and try to cancel any opinion. Never a cogent argument. This is how I ended up here.
