It's here because of the thread about proof of genocide by Russia in Ukraine. Saiditors have different views of this.

This is a joke sub.

Maybe better on s/Ukraine

Thanks - though I post mainly in subs that get reactions from more than 10 people (9 here now). There is also no information about this sub in the side panel. Part of my concern is the pervasive cynicism among some at Saidit who want to parrot propaganda claims that Ukraine is massacring its own people. So this is the perfect sub for that kind of cynicism.

You could post the link to the original article, yet you chose to post a link to a bannit discussion. Saiditors have all kind of views because there's not a forced narrative like there is on bannit.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Yes, I posted the genocide discussion thread. Yes, Saiditors have different views. No, there is no "forced narrative" experienced by most people in the US. No - the word 'bannit' means nothing to me.

forced narrative

He means on reddit I think. That's the problem now with reddit, if you don't say the Right Things, you are banned. Only their narrative is allowed. Which makes it a terrible source. You'd think everyone supports trannies from looking at Reddit, but only because everyone who doesn't gets the banhammer.

I guess that also extends to the mainstream media, only one main narrative is allowed, with some slight variations. Makes for unreliable sources.

I see no evidence. Your thing appears to be this propaganda NBC admits to.

Thanks for the info.

(Part of the problem is the assumption that a complex, diverse website like Reddit can be called a forced narrative, or can be called 'bannit'. This is extreme-right circle jerk language at extreme-right 'alternative' social networks that actually force their own narrow narratives and ban anyone who disagrees. [edit - removed some words])

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

complex, diverse website like Reddit

It's not though. Socks, I can't go on there without catching bans left and right, and I'm not a rule breaker and I'm not particularly extreme. You're just getting confirmation bias from there, it's not a real reflection of anything anymore.

At one point he also offered me $200 worth of bitcoin to leave

Damn, nobody ever offered me money to leave. I'm jealous.

That's how upset he's been about vaccines and the concern that his kids might be required to get vaccines.

That's totally understandable. I was initially okay with the covid vaccine but in hindsight it was the wrong choice. The only reason we're not being screwed over by covid cases is thanks to those people who didn't get the shot. Natural immunity ended up being better. Only at risk people should have ever been vaccinated.

I've not been banned at Reddit,

Because you buy their bullshit.

Because you buy their bullshit.

Redidit is not a monlith. You can visit /r/conspiracy and see the same lunacy you see here at Saidit.

And if you say something like this:

The only reason we're not being screwed over by covid cases is thanks to those people who didn't get the shot.

In a normal discussion about covid vaccines, you'll be seen as one of the trolls trying to spread disinformation, because your comment is false. Covid cases reduced when vaccinations increased. It's as simpla sa that. It's not bullshit. It's not someone's opinion. It's corroborated. It's scientific fact, agreed on by 96% of the world who believe in science. To believe in your statement, one has to claim that scientific research and virology and medical science are all wrong. So, instead of believing a random anonymous person online about vaccines, we can look at the scientific evidence, which has been checked and tested billions of times with doses of vaccines, and we can say with certainty what the facts are. I don't have to face the forced anti-vax narratives of you and the few others who have absolutey no evidence, or experience, or even logical argument to back up your opinions. None of this is even arguable in a normal discussion. If however we lived in a medieval German city state, you might have a point. Sorry to pick on just this one point, but I hope it helps to offer an explanation.

I'm listening to Bloomberg and they're blaming Le Pen's success on "misinformation," but that term is synonymous with "far right" to them. Crazy.

because your comment is false

That was on your very own CNN.... https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/06/health/where-is-ba-2/index.html

They call it "failing upwards."

Hahaha, I can't wait to read your reply.

Thanks. I watch Bloomberg when I'm in the US, and what they note about misinformation campaigns by Le Pen and others is true (fascists cannot get votes by meing honest). Anyone on Saidit can appreciate Bloomberg's approaches because they must provide reliable information for investors, or will not be popular with them. I don't watch CNN because they're too repetitive and it's strange how excited they get about normal news. The BBC I see every day is relatively reliable, though they're too baised in favor of Tories. Regarding the CNN link you've provided, I don't see anything there that's informative. I also try to avoid contradictory arguments, like 'falling upwards' and don't know what it means.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

If BA.2 does go quietly, it may be because the US did such a poor job of stopping transmission of Omicron and the variants that came before it, that we have failed upward, bungling our way to a high level of immune protection

The meaning seems super clear to me, we are doing better now because of the unvaccinated. CNN tries to spin it as a bad thing, which is ridiculous.

Le Pen and others is true (fascists cannot get votes by meing honest).

Perhaps, but I think Bloomberg equating other politics as misinformation has a lot more to do with the conservative shift incoming. When that "misinformation" keeps turning out right, you lose people.
