My reddit friend was big into antiwork, pretty sure it was originally about being lazy and living off universal basic income. Lot of welfare peeps. I don't follow it but I'm guessing with Covid it attracted a more mainstream following who did just want better working conditions. And then there's the greedy bankers taking advantage.

I'd say the bankers likely came first.

Universal income is a way to get everyone in thrall to the state so they can then be easily targeted by businesses promising fake choices.

Subscribers are huge these days. They want us all renting and owning nothing. They buy up the homes and the used cars. I just read people are paying over sticker on new cars without blinking. That was engineered.

Doesn’t airbnb own like half of San Francisco already? I heard the “weekend rental” apps are buying up a lot of real estate and renting it out

Not sure about AirBnB but Zillow was doing something like that, didn't work out well for them.
