It can be used as a way to bring attention to certain features. I've sat on top of the sink countertop about a billion times as a teenager after finding this old website with pixelated goth eye makeup designs just using my face as a canvas. There's a creativity there that can be tapped into that's not really meant to be pleasing for others or not, just fun and a way to absolve boredom. I've seen some pretty negative shit from both men and women regarding it, and I can't ever understand why it matters so much.

That certainly would help with boredom... but personally I never put on make-up unless I'm going out, because I don't want to make my acne problem any worse. Make-up also costs money, so I try not to use very much.

Oh, face makeup like foundation and concealer feels gross anyway. I've never really touched that crap outside of maybe job interviews to even skin tone. This was just eye makeup. We're not talking Morphe kits here, it was like drug store cheap ass mascara and some eyeshadow that I ended up concocting by adding food coloring to eyeshadow that I already had.

Ah, okay. I don't put anything else on without first using foundation and concealer, because my skin is really bad lol.

Yeah, I've always had little chicken pox scars on my cheeks, and foundation just made it look shittier so I gave up outside of the extremely rare occasion. Light eye makeup and lip stains or balms (the texture is neat and helps create a distraction from stress instead of just biting at them; looks pretty) are my favorites though. Skin problems usually get worse with foundation anyway, it creates a vicious cycle of clogged pores and bacterial chaos. Ordinary has ultra cheap products (like $5 up) that can help.

Dang. I've just got a lot of acne scars that take a long time to go away... They're easy to cover up most the time, but sometimes there's just no way to do it.

I don't like using too much eye make-up either, but I'll put on some eyeliner and mascara. I've never used lip-stains, so I wouldn't know. I've been using purple lip-gloss, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. The color is subtle, though, which is nice; it seems like lip-stick would have too much.

Yeah, that's why I don't wear it that much, and try to wash it off as soon as possible.

Like what?

For acne scarring, look into microneedling. It's something that you have to be really careful with because if you're too rough you can permanently damage your skin. I have different skin needs and mostly just base my shit around keeping it hydrated and using products that are gentle, but I've read some good reviews on lactic acid-based serums for resurfacing that they have. You have to be careful with those too though, especially if you have sensitive skin. It might take research, but Ulta has them.

Actual lip stains just give them pigment without any of the surface texture. I just use the little lip marker thing and let it dry, then wipe it off with wet toilet paper to leave the stain and apply balm over it. If lip gloss works without making you nuts, consider it a victory. I can't deal with the texture of lip gloss because it's sticky or just goopy and I can't move without my hair getting stuck in it.

Yeah. I don't mind it, though.

OMG I feel you. It does that with chap-stick too.
