Well, there you go!
Ah, I misread your comment. Here is another critique of democracy that was posted a while back: Why Democracy Leads to Tyranny - Academy of Ideas.
Yes, the very people who invented Democracy
did wonder if it was any good.
Plato, famously, didn't like it.
Now, I'm not saying that the author is arguing for totalitarianism,
which would be rather unusual for a Libertarian! :D
I'm saying that if/as we descend into totalitarianism
(which does seem to be happening), we'll start noticing that
Democracy as a system starts getting attacked more and more,
from all sides, both the right and the left, wittingly and unwittingly,
with both good and bad arguments.
And this guy does make good arguments, for example:
A major paradox of government is that
if the demos has all the de jure power,
an oligarchy of financial interests has all the de facto power,
which is the unfortunate situation in which we find ourselves.
This is perfectly put.
But, that having been said,
it is also interesting that,
as the author sought to frame the issues
from his Libertarian perspective,
somehow(!), an attack on Democracy
seemed promising.
People have been criticizing the system of democracy for a long time. I don't think there's a correlation between someone expressing a political opinion and totalitarianism.
I, among others I'm sure, predicted that in the descent into totalitarianism,
Democracy would at some point start getting attacked as a problem.
I can see your side of it. Lot of good points. On the flip side we can't trust govt and while their spying stops terrorist attaches they also use it for nefarious purposes. But don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's black and white.
I'm all for freedom of speech, but there should also be a corresponding responsibility. Unpopular opinion, but Manning and Snowden are traitors, and Assange/WikiLeaks are complicit in their treason. There's a way to go about things through the proper channels and just throwing that out the window can endanger lives. How many intelligence assets were at risk when these idiots leaked classified documents? Yeah, yeah, everyone is all butthurt that the NSA spies on people - that's their fucking job and we're safer for it. And coming from a population of people who over-share everything, even what they had for breakfast, is a bit disingenuous in my book. And what exactly did this accomplish. Is the world a better place for it? Did it save lives? Nope. It did nothing.
Let's all vote trump right
He has libertarian friendly ideas on police and the national debt, but leans anti-libertarian on social programs and unions.
Americans are stunningly retarded now.
Americans shrug if the globalists want to liquidate the 99%, but Americans lose their minds if the US has illegal immigrants.
Yikes! Thank God I don't live in a place like this nor in a residential area under HOA martial law. Fuck that shit.
Lol I post a lot of good stuff from Mises. Why don't you like em?
What the hell is this? Mises with a well thought out article promoting individual freedom? I didn't think that was possible.
Wtf are they
The US today is the opposite of what the USA was in 1999.
Americans used to support personal responsibility, morality, peace, freedom, and balanced budgets. Now Americans love dependency, immorality, war, tyranny, and debt.
They literally tried to send this guy to prison for running.
Whether you like him or not that shows the country has bigger problems than this guy.

They are like the street beggar whose is forced to say he needs money food, rather than drugs.
General hint to someone calling themselves a Libertarian when they are worshipers of secret police, police, concentration camps, and statism : nope that is not Libertariansm.
That is the Koch / " Cato Institute " / Senator Ron Paul version of Goebbellism.
Welcome to /r/Libertarian, a subreddit to discuss libertarianism. We are NOT a generic politics sub. We are a libertarian sub, about libertarianism.
We do not owe you a platform to push anti-libertarian ideologies such as socialism/communism. This sub is explicitly against Communism/Socialism as it is antithetical to libertarianism. In addition everyone must follow the rules below.
Meaning, any Libertarians supporting human rights, animal rights, the planet, or democracy are going to be banned.
The supposed Libertarians specializing in de platforming anything except state violence and hate.
Of course, if you simply sampled r/Libertarian and r/RonPaul and similars, you would find no actual Libertarians - just hard right wing and hate spreaders.
By accident ?
Nope.
Any Mods in Reddit attempting to stop the spreading of hate will get banned.
Of course, if a family ignores medical advice.
The real problem is that very few families have access to genetic testing.
However, the basic diagnosis can be done with elemental tests.
Should regulations cover all protein containing foods ? No, of course not.
High protein containing foods are not just powders and potions. They include organ meats, and meats. Label all lean fish ? Label all grass fed cattle ? Label all organnic eggs ?
Should HOAs be a type of independent community ?
With gates and fences ?
Think about HOAs you know.
Most are pretty dodgy -- but still, that is what you got. You got to have neighbors.
No, the Constitution didn't go far enough. It's also a Federalist document.
Actually am a bit OK with that.
Uncomfortable, with slavery though.

The Constitution only has one exception for the right to keep and bear arms, and that is currently incarcerated. Anything else is a direct violation of the Constitution.
Makes sense to me. Every time there's a shooting, politicians write a bunch of new gun laws that do absolutely nothing. Why not give guns to nuts? The current laws aren't even making a dent in illegal guns and the prohibited people who use them.
That sounds exactly like a libertarian position. What’s the surprise and shock here?
A little chaos and mayhem does make life more interesting.
THey are hoping they will kill Republicans.
Ever notice how the so - called "Libertarians" in the government are the biggest advocates for taxation and the military ?
The Ron Paul clones - and the original.
The donees of Soroses and Koches.
The donees of the big wealth contributors.
Maui has a terribly corrupt culture and society.
But really, that just reflect the overall state government - which in turn, reflects the role of the military .
A version of libertarianism designed to ensure anyone interested in the subject will scratch their head and back away, slowly.
Never mind capitalism, it also hampers scientific progress including in medicine
It's also just plain censorship
I just don't get why we're involved at all. We just got out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Why are we spoiling for another war with either Russia or China?
Might as well ask for BJs every day while we're fantasizing.
What do the numbers even mean? There is nothing on the page to indicate what a positive number or negative means.
I agree. The only form of tax allowed should be import and export tariffs. Primarily import tariffs.
Texas had one briefly. Abbott got a clue right quick though.

If they want to get rid of Bidenvilles, they need to start at the top.
If people stopped borrowing to buy nonsense they would do well, eating out, starbucks, new cars ne TVs. I've been putting money aside to build well upgrade my old PC, it's about $400 to upgrade but I'm not so stupid to buy on credit.
Only a matter of time until crime goes right off the scale as those loans run out and people can't get food.
About 8 months ago I watch a video and the dude predicts the future, he told how companies would do extreme cuts. I remember him saying slow business growth and rising labor costs was in part would be the problem.

Hope it's like an old west wagon train of U-Hauls heading for new lives and adventures. Just remember and never forget why you left those states, please.
It's because in some cases, threatening an assault (spitting on someone is assault) can be treated as assault legally. Then the added elements of hatred based on belonging to certain groups turn the crime into a hate crime.
All these media outlets were calling for a red wave this past mid-terms too. Look how that turned out.
We've been in a recession aince 2020.

I disagree with the first part: "America is a democracy"
It is an oligarchy, that owns the press and manipulates public opinions.
They have made the public dumb.
By keeping the people in debt, they become dependent and divided.
And it has split the politics into: "give me money" and "take less money from me".
Decisions are made outside the public, by "donors" and such.
(Israeli donors helped to decide on support to Israel)
The politicians and media sell the decisions with lies, and deceit.
(like: Trump derangement syndrome)
They often need to create a problem, so the people must accept the decided solution.
Usually laws are changed with just a few words, word changes, to give the law complete different meaning.
(Like equating conspiracy theorists to terrorists)
The unnecessary power of the president and lawmakers on important decisions makes wrong decisions unavoidable.
Especially today they are corrupt, controlled, badly informed and stupid/demented.
