Also an amazing comment, that I'm kicking myself for not archiving the link for.

You will get more support identifying as trans then you will for acknowledging ones female same sex attraction. The trans community has received monumental support and protection even at the expense of silencing and spewing violent rhetoric towards homosexual women. I’ve never been applauded, uplifted or even protected by the “masses” as a lesbian. I’ve never seen lesbians embraced by the lgbt community let alone our heteronormative humans with such conviction and passion. Being a lesbian is still so demonized in society and the media. Our inherent womanhood and our sole attraction to ppl born female has ALWAYS come with a target planted firmly on our backs. We are demoralized because our sexuality does not include the male sex, in any way, shape, or form. Trans women who are attracted to women, have more outward support and are able to access lesbian spaces because it’s “their” community. Yet, I as a lesbian am not apart of the trans community, nor do I have any desire to be, it is not my experience. I respect their spaces as we all should. But as we all know, women cannot have anything that centers themselves from ppl born of the male sex. 40 trans ppl died in a year yet hundreds upon hundreds of women die at the hands of men every year. Where is the outcry when ppl weaponize terms like, “terf” against women and lesbians for standing up for ourselves and declaring something as simple as ppl born male have a different experience from ppl born female no matter how one chooses to feel/identify. It baffles me how no one can see the “male-entitlement” and blatant homophobia brandished against lesbians. It’s disheartening and sad but not at all surprising. As far as I’m concerned the methods that trans women have equipped are nothing short of age old patriarchal tools of oppression. I’m black, I’m a woman and I’m a lesbian who is labeled by people born white and male as a bigot for daring to refuse “girldick.” And you know what it feels like? The same controlling, violent attacks that I’ve received from misogynistic and homophobic people’s my entire existence.

I’m not sorry that I know trans women were born male and not female. Ban me. I’m used to being societally “ostracized.” Kiss my pretty black gay behind while you’re at it.

Amazing post, and true. I heard a lot of stories from detransitioners, mostly butch lesbians, who were bullied in school, misgendered and being called "he", ridiculed and laughed out for not being feminine and not liking boys, but when they came out as transmen and started taking hormones - they became school heroes, praised by everyone in class and internet, plus testosterone at first is working as anti-depresant as well. Society really pressures on young gnc women.
