What book changed your life?

It doesn't have to be a "gay" book. We're all lesbians here.

For me it would have to be, Sally Ride:America's First Woman in Space by Lynn Sherr. I have always loved anything about space and read this book just for fun before coming out to my dad. The way Dr. Ride lived in absolute fear of being outed made me realize that I didn't want the same for me. It was just heartbreaking that such a smart and respected woman wasn't able to live as her true self.

Also, 60 Seconds and You're Hired! by Robin Ryan. For any of you trying to get a job, this book is a quick read that will give you the confidence to answer all those stupid interview questions like, "where do you see yourself in five years" or "what is your biggest weakness?"

(If you can't think of a book, I'd love to hear what art, movies, TV shows, etc helped you.)

I love the simplicity of math. How you can follow a process and get a result. It’s nothing like life. And I love seeing patterns in things. I am very curious about the world and the behavioural patterns I see. Investigation and whatnot.

Also, once I understood stats I could see how they are used to manipulate public opinion and I can free myself from that manipulation by being able to interpret actual studies. So many movements right now are misreporting studies or cherry-picking, and that is allowing them to force a perspective that is dangerous for the general population. Someone in another thread on gender critical was using a study of no significant findings to disprove some stuff about trans people and it was obvious to me right away. People can’t trick you when you know their language better than they do

    Your Money or Your Life by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin. I now have a path to financial independence and retirement vs. living paycheck to paycheck.

    I read Dave Ramsey before going through a major life transition and it really helped me see the big picture. It is so easy to get caught up in trying to make ends meet that you can lose sight of actually saving for your future. I'll have to check this book out. Thanks!

    Wild by Cheryl Strayed I was reading it and it was the first point at which I realized I couldn't keep pretending to be bisexual and that I had to actually come out and deal with it. I don't know why since it obviously had nothing to do with sexuality.

    The Power of Habits - Finally gave me actionable advice backed up by science about how we can form habits that shape our lives in a positive way and explains how many of our bad habits are formed. I recommend it to anyone.

    Honestly, Dante's Divine Comedy was a life-changer for me. I just loved it and felt SO connected to the story and the writing. It s a story about politics, revenge and having the last laugh. :)

    I never read it but played the game and it was awesome! Lol. I should check it out because it influenced Christianity to a degree
