We don't know yet. If there's anything I've learned over the years, it's not to jump to conclusions before some facts come out.

There's a long history of attacks on gay clubs, going back decades, so it might be connected to recent events, or it might be something more personal with the shooter.

Reports don't seem to have dug up much background on the shooter other than he may have made bomb threats last year towards his mother or his mother's landlord.

Have we ever even figured out exactly what the Pulse shooter's motives were?

As far as I know, I don't think the police have released his motives if they know what they are. However, it does seem like he wasn't necessarily looking to shoot up a gay club specifically that night: https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/what-really-happened-night-pulse-n882571

Apparently Omar Mateen was wandering around Orlando for a while before he decided on the Pulse club. According to police he googled "Disney World" and "downtown Orlando nightclubs" twice the night of the shooting, before he went to Pulse. So it seems like he had actually considered shooting up Disney World first. I think according to another article I read, he read a lot of jihadist propaganda online. My guess is that he was a hateful jihadist who just wanted to make a statement by killing a bunch of western infidels. Not to say he wasn't homophobic, but it seems killing gay people wasn't his primary motive that night.

Oh,I 100% agree.I just thought that maybe USA based LGBdroptheT members might have come across to more info than the news sites and maybe offer some insight to European me.

Edit. I have to say I am surprised that I came here and did not find any threads/discussion on the attack.Unless there were and I missed them-in this case I humbly apologize.
