Long live TERF island. Wonderful news. May all other gender clinics be shuttered and those who supported this be held to account.

A lot TRAs seem to think this will mean the new clinics will be a walk-in walk-out with hormones service. I hope they are in for a nasty shock.

They are in heavy denial right now and trying to paint this as a win for them.

Yup

They're delusional. They've completely skimmed over how these clinics are being opened so that providers have options like referring for mental health treatment, instead of being forced into the acceptance/affirmation model.

Would it be too much to guess that these new clinics will vary a lot, unlike the centralized, standardized Tavistock? That some will be good and other bad?

"But- but- that just means we have more facilities to crack our trans eggs, right?"

An important step in the right direction.

Omg, this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Archive link, btw. Can anyone view the live poll?? It's halfway through the article.

TLDR, as far as I can tell:

  • End of Tavistock.

  • 2 new clinics will be created that involve a variety of mental health professionals, not just people trying to transition kids as fast as possible.

  • The 2 new clinics will actually collect follow-up data on the patients they see.

  • No clear guidelines on how often transitioning drugs/surgeries will be used; Cass observes that there is no evidence to inform any guidelines.

  • Full Cass report comes out next year.

I appreciated this quote...

Amid concerns that the clinic fails to take into account wider health problems before putting children on puberty blockers, Cass added: “Staff should maintain a broad clinical perspective in order to embed the care of children and young people with gender uncertainty within a broader child and adolescent health context.”

What a crazy idea.

This is great!

Thank god. And I appreciate that Cass is levelheaded and not reactionary. This is the ideal way to uproot the influence of gender ideology on impressionable, vulnerable young kids.
