I love Doctor Who - I haven't seen many episodes with the 13th doctor (Jodie Whittaker), so please no spoilers by anyone :)

It makes sense that the trans community would see parts of themselves in this, since the Doctor regenerates, and the 13th Doctor was a woman. I'm gonna try to keep an open mind, and hope the writers don't go super woke and fall all over themselves trying to appease the new "queer" fandom - just keep true to the Doctor's portrayal, regardless of the actor or actress, and I'm good with that.

I gave up with Jodie Whittaker. But there have been uninspiring periods of Doctor Who in the past. It's fairly widely accepted that the writing declined during the latter half of Peter Davison's tenure in the 1980s, and who remembers Colin Baker with much fondness? The problem with Doctor Who is that there are only so many plots. Sometimes it all comes together like with David Tennant and Catherine Tate, but all the planets (pun intended) have to come into alignment. There's no guarantee Davies can do it again.

And, unfortunately, as good as he is sometimes, Russell T. Davies is known to have a bad case of wokeness these days.

I've found myself watching older SciFi lately, like Farscape. Think back to the 2000s when we had Stargate SG-1, Farscape, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, and a successfully rebooted Doctor Who. It seems like all the imagination that created those shows has petered out.

Oh Catherine Tate... Donna was my absolute favorite companion.

I'm pretty sure the trans actor who has been cast is playing Donna's child as the character name is Rose Temple-Noble and Donna Noble married Shaun Temple.
