but then again my partner was asked if he drove from Europe to the US on a visit ...

I knew americans had an high level of mentally challenged individuals, but that's just shocking.

Oh yeah, and as Americans, we've NEVER had Europeans make stupid mistakes about the size or geography of our country! Nope, never happens! No sirree! 🙄

It definitely happens. There are arrogant people on every continent who think they are smarter than they really are. They think they though enough about America just because they’ve watched a lot of American movies and TV shows, even though most of these movies and shows are made in LA, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta and a few other cities.

Exactly. People who think they know America because they see our TV and movies are hilarious. Almost everything is made by a subset of New Yorkers or Southern Californians. Our media rarely reflects the cultural norms of America, the diversity of American speech, or real life for most Americans.

Tbh, Mare of Easttown was the last thing I saw that actually resembled us.

I get a lot of my knowledge about America from talking to Americans and listening to them. From listening to American livestreams by Americans from different parts of America. From watching videos filmed in different parts of America. And from what I’ve gathered, Southern California and New York are overrated. I’m more interested in the mountainous and Midwestern states, and some of the states in the south, like Florida, Arkansas, Wyoming and Montana. They might not be the best states for gays, but at least they have been spared from the woke madness to a certain degree.

I 100% think you’d get a kick out of visiting “flyover” America. You’d have a blast at a Louisiana crawfish boil, a Wyoming rodeo, a Michigan pig roast, or any other non-Hollywood Americana.

Also, the states that are “bad for gays” usually aren’t as awful as people make them out to be. I live in a very conservative state in a county where 88% of people voted Trump. I’ve never been made to feel unsafe where I live now. Actually, people have been nothing but nice to me and my partner.

Not to mention how affordable in terms of cost of living those states are said to be.

It’s great that Flyover America is not as homophobic as the media makes them out to be. Someone I know genuinely believes that homosexuals are being rounded up and killed in America. Then again, our media lies about America, and Irish people believe it because we just don’t any better. Most Americans who visit or immigrate to Ireland tend to be from the Northeast or the west coast.

Agreed. You can find good and bad people everywhere. I've watched numerous Asian media like from Pakistan, Thailand, Mongolia, South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, North Korea, Armenia, Philippines, and Vietnam, but I know that it's media and meant for entertainment; it's not reality of what life's like in those countries nor is American, Canadian, Irish, British, etc. media like that in real life either.

That isn't about knowing geography or size of world country, but can't get how an someone who isn't 5 can think we can go from Europe to USA in a car. Just that

I knew americans had an high level of mentally challenged individuals

Well, sure, they believe stupid things like the lie that there's an epidemic of racist cops shooting black people.

Oh wait, you believe that too.

    [–]Elvira95Viva la figa 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

No, never said there was an emergency of black cops shooting black people, you misread my comment. I say the police is brutal, and has right to shoot freely in a way in Europe isn't possible, there have been various case of gunless people getting shot by police, even young black teens. I said I wouldn't be surprise if some racist cop would kill a black using the right to kill, but it isn't a black problem.

    [–]Preachy_Jerk 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I mean actually there is problem of USA police being brutal and probably racist police officers using their freedom to shoot at people to kill black people

I misread that? Whatever you say.

You take gratuitous opportunities to put down the USA and Americans. The other day you said Canada was a bad place to live, only a little better than the USA. How long have you lived in either place? Do you actually know anything about American crime and police shootings? Or, as I suspect, did you simply grasp for any ammunition to continue your habitual, unnecessary bigotry against Americans?

    [–]Elvira95Viva la figa 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, you did, the police is brutal that's fact. But never said there is an epidemic of black folks being killed. You can't deny police brutality in USA. That's not bigotry against americans. Good and bad people exist, it isn't a nationality that makes a good person, but still, th system just suck in many ways.
