If I go into a restaurant and order a kale salad, there is no scenario I’ll be happy with receiving a steak or anything else that is not a kale salad. Even people who like both are going to be upset if they are expecting one and get the other instead.

Wow Jules, I expected better. Kale salads exist on a spectrum which includes steak.

Vegetarianism is just a thinly veiled hatred of cows.

Oh my god, Arthnold. I’m so sorry. I’ve had time to think about it and I totally sounded like one of those Drop the T nazis. I’m going to re-educate myself until I realize my vegetarianism is rooted in hatred and privilege.

The last grünkohle salad I had may or may not have included steak. False dichotomy.

But no really, it wasn't grünkohle but the last few salads I've eaten contained the only steak I've had in about a year. This joke hits different in the light of that.

Now I'm going to associate a salad packing some meat with something else... You did this, it's your fault.

But there's curly kale, dino kale, baby kale, etc. Some tougher cuts of steak actually mimic the chewing experience of eating hearty greens, and obviously the same dressing used in a cis kale salad can be used to marinate steak. So while it's fine to have salad preferences it's worth examining the often misguided assumptions behind them.
