In Ireland, incest is only punishable if it’s between brother/sister, mother/son, father/daughter and grandfather/granddaughter. This means that a man can have sex with his grandmother, his aunt, his niece (if she’s over 17), his female cousins and any male member of his family, including his dad and his adult son, and a woman can have sex with any female member of her family plus her adult grandson, uncle, adult nephew and male cousin. Same-sex incest is banned only if it involves a child or if it’s non-consensual. It’s gross, but the government is only concerned about preventing a pregnancy resulting from incest, in which case the child could be born with serious medical conditions, which is why sex between grandmothers and adult grandsons is legal. The fact that incest destroys families is considered a personal matter for the government. The problem is, Ireland has a self-ID gender identity law. I'm not sure what happens if a man who is legally a woman has sex with his mother or his sister. So if Chris Chan was living in Ireland, he could only be prosecuted for having sex with his mother without her consent.
