2 spirit was a rather recent invention by Native Americans. It was made to replace the term, Berdache, which they consider offensive. It was used to describe gay or otherwise gender non-conforming men who were put into a different social class in native tribes. It was not a gender. It's just gender cult appropriating the oppression of gay and gender non-conforming men again, as they always do.

I mean this in the absolute NICEST way possible: please do not speak on gender in Native American culture unless you are Native American. As an outsider who has directly benefited from genocide and enslavement of indigenous people, it is not your place to speak on their social views of gender and sexuality.

Dude, the term was literally made in 1990 to replace the older term that is considered offensive for the oppressed men in Native American cultures.

I'm also not American or Canadian, so I'm not sure how I directly benefited from the genocide and enslavement of them. Or why that would even matter since the people who did those things are long dead. I don't subscribe to the idea that one must be part of a culture in order to criticize the oppressive parts of that culture.

Yes, this exactly X 1000.

If you care about humans, you are willing to cast a critical eye on ALL practices that hurt people, regardless of where they come from.

To add to this: the idea that you can't discuss a culture in any way unless you directly belong to that particular culture is outright absurd. It's like saying that the only people who are allowed to do social anthropology focused on ancient Romans are ancient Romans. What an incredibly anti-intellectual position to take.

People are absolutely allowed to discuss cultures they directly don't belong to. Doing so is not inherently disrespectful.
