Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it :) I agree, I also am bothered knowing that there is still a common connotation that gay = "not normal," and the transgender movement/queer theory are doing active harm by reinforcing such stereotypes, e.g. through messages: "Queer means different!" "Dress in a 'gay way'!" "If you are 'LGBTQ' then you are DIFFERENT and no one can understand what it's like to be you!" Etc. I totally feel you about having that reaction to your friend though haha, I would probably have too.
