More generally, James tells me, kids are taught to start from the basic premise that their parents’ generation is outdated in its values and riddled with prejudice, a belief that gets more anachronistic with every passing year.

I know that the current obsession with generational divides isn't solely the fault of Buzzfeed and their Boomer v Millennial "articles" but it's still the first place my mind goes when I think about it. I guess Gen X is the enemy now? Even if the people pointing the fingers are screaming Boomer lol

Abuse victim? Yes. Role model? Absolutely not.

Some kid somewhere at some point accidentally found out that Gen X internet users seethe when accused of being Boomers, and the rest is history.

Yes, Gen Xers are old and the 90s are the bad old days that are also treated as exotic and longed for.

Meh. I remember the 90s. They weren't all that.

Sincerely, a GenXer. Who is not old dammit!!
