"must affirm the sexuality and gender choices of students" -- are they calling sexuality a "choice"?

The school's only duty is to try to teach you math, biology (really want to stress that one!), reading, writing, etc. NOT to participate in anyone's LARP.

I'm still stuck on their weird explanation of the Briggs Initiative lol

I don't know if I have enough of an opinion about either bill as I'm not familiar with Australian politics but I'm also wary of anyone throwing around family value type phrases BUT I really don't think the two are comparable at all.

Is today one of those remembrance days? If so it must not be that effective

I was able to find this article, which is what I think it's about: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/breaking-news/mark-latham-leads-inquiry-into-controversial-bill-that-could-see-school-lessons-discussing-gender-fluidity-banned/news-story/769d3d5a2a483691c0dac4d18a6ba296

And here's a very biased piece that gives a little more detail: https://www.greenleft.org.au/content/mark-lathams-paranoid-education-bill-seeks-erase-young-trans-people

If I'm understanding correctly, it's similar to what happened in the UK last year, where there was an attempt to disallow schools to teach about gender identity and/or sexuality unless permitted by individual parents. IIRC, the UK bills failed because they already have an Equality Act in place and it was looking to amend/change it. Not sure what our friends over in AUS have going already though.
