What did he expect? To be nominated for the non-binary award that he'd just win by default?

I guess he hoped that the categories "best male/female" would be nuked, and everyone would be nominated in just one big category.

With how awful his music actually is, compared to people with real talent, that would just mean that he is competing with twice as many people for only one award. - And in the end it would probably result in mainly men winning. I don't want this to sound like "all men suck"!! But the Academy Awards have the category "best director" and you can go and check how often that award was won by a woman in the last 92 years.

I honestly think there should be a best female director, especially since so many get snubbed in favour of mediocre/famous male directors.

True.

But I am predicting that the left and lib-fems would screech that this is just proof that women are made to believe they are not good enough to compete against men in such categories. - When it's just like you mentioned. Mediocre men win before extraordinaire women get even nominated.

It's not that they're not good enough, it's just that they don't have a chance against men, just like in almost every other industry. There's a reason why male and female actors have separate awards. Men would get best actor every time, that's just the reality of the situation. Think of music awards. How many all female bands have won awards as opposed to all male bands? How many female bands outside of the nineties and early 2000s can you name off the top of your head?

Also, every time someone says there's no good female directors, I think of Agnes Varda in her little potato suit and cry.

Exactly. Unisex categories typically have more male nominees and therefore more male winners. Fuck that.

With how awful his music actually is

This is where I'm still stuck at. Sam hasn't had a good song since 2015.

His "Diamonds" is so awful. Most songs with a snap/clap track like his is usually just so lazy and derivative; made for the lowest common denominator. His stuff is on level with all that pop-country garbage. If people like it, that's fine but it's so bland.
