Because I was sent to conversion therapy when I was a teenager and it messed me up for years. The rhetoric coming out of trans rights activists is the same homophobic bile meant to make people feel shame in their sexuality and aim to “correct” it. Young lesbians and gay men should not be made to feel ashamed or bad for being exclusively same-sex attracted.

Because LGB people are being robbed of language with which to describe ourselves and organize on our behalf. (If lesbians can’t acknowledge that we’re homosexual women, how are we supposed to have any coherent conversations about lesbian issues or fight anti-lesbian bigotry?)

Because the trans community is advocating for policies that are unfair at best and dangerous at worst (e.g. males in women’s sports, females in men’s prisons, etc.). These policies will cause a massive backlash sooner or later. If LGB people are silent or complicit on these issues, we will suffer in that backlash.

Because making unalterable and unnecessary medical decisions for children who cannot consent to them is unconscionable.

Because the trans community’s push to trans children is primarily affecting gender non-conforming kids and LGB kids. These kids need love and support, not procedures that will sterilize them and cause permanent damage to their bodies.

Because intersex people are neither pawns nor shields. They are men and women who deserve the right to make choices about their bodies, access appropriate medical care, and live with dignity.

Because bisexual men and women are entitled to set their own sexual boundaries without being shamed or harassed for it.

Because writing LGB people out of LGB history is harmful.

Because the antics of trans rights activists are being touted as evidence to continue and/or escalate discrimination against LGB people in places where LGB people do not have the rights and protections we have in the West. This is particularly harmful to our Polish and Hungarian brothers and sisters.

Because the trans community’s willingness to engage in intimidation, doxxing, and physical violence to people who oppose or simply question their agenda is unacceptable. This behavior does not speak for LGB people.

Because gender identity has nothing to do with sexual orientation.
