No, I get her reasoning, warped as it is. She wasn't attractive to straight men, and she knew it. Closeted gay guys probably dated her because she seemed non-sexual to them or simply because she was available. They were the only ones who showed her any attention -- and for the wrong reasons. But she got hooked on that tiny bit of attention and reasoned that if she could be a man, gay guys would like her. The problem is, she's realized that most gay men aren't going to be any more attracted to her than straight men.

We live in a socially mediated world where people are constantly hyper-aware of their sex appeal, and if you don't have it, you're constantly reminded of it. Like others said above, she is deeply emotionally fucked-up.
