Don't consider that a right, really, especially if the conversion therapy is NOT forced or barbaric. Some of us would kill to have a legal, CONSENSUAL option like that. I know I would.

I also don't consider marriage a human right, by very definition. It's pretty trivial.

I don't know how it is in your country, but in mine it isn't legal to sell pseudo-science that doesn't work. Maybe someday if someone invents conversion therapy that works and that is backed by science we'll have to discuss conversion itself. Nowadays, we aren't even discussing conversion itself, we're discussing charlatanism and false advertisement.

Or you can go the Iran route and just give sex change to gay men, now they're straight women.

Marriage itself isn't a human right. But equality before the law is. And it's not only about the marriage itself, many systems in modern societies are based on the concept of marriage. While your co-workers are all getting medical insurance for their partners, you might not be able to get it just because your same-sex partner isn't legally married to you. If marriage is irrelevant then go and remove the concept of marriage from law altogether.

I don't know why you even brought up human rights though. We have many rights in modern societies that aren't basic human rights. Consumer rights are rights all the same, even if they don't address basic human rights. I don't see why only when it comes to LGB rights then it should be all about basic human rights.

Okay but regular therapy isn't "psuedo science that doesn't work". And getting it "backed by science" aka actually tested and reviewed is going to be near impossible when the public has declared it's a "hate crime" to question homosexuality at all.

And it's not only about the marriage itself, many systems in modern societies are based on the concept of marriage.

And that's an issue. Homosexuals aren't the only people less likely to marry. The concept of marriage itself is outdated, backwards, and unfair. It's more logical to dismantle the system than say "look, everyone should have equal access to this flawed concept."

I'm just saying I don't believe LGB people lack rights in any way, not in first world countries and even outside, the "gay hating" places are usually oppressive for everyone and not just a gay issue.

Because if we keep pushing this narrative that homosexuals are always lacking rights when we aren't, and that we need more "rights" which are just re-worded privileges, then we are doing the exact same thing as TRAs.

Exactly, and it's not progressive or inspiring when the woman is swapped out for a "man in a woman's role" who is designated to be the one who is "owned." There is an unwritten rule in homosexual relationships that states one must be the "woman", aka, the subordinate. It's horrible and I can't see how "progressive" people see it as a win.
